Our Goals:
The goals of the Love the Everglades Movement (LTEM) are to restore the Everglades ecosystem. LTEM organization will focus holistically on the following issues in the short term (within 2-3 years):

  • Advocate for the urgency of cleaning up the water
  • Advocate for more water flow underneath the Tamiami Trail, according to the seasons, including through the S-12 structures located along the Miccosukee Reservation
  • Oppose and Rescind Florida's Assumption of the Clean Water Act 404 Permitting Program, and Restore it to the EPA
  • Advocate for the solution of the L-28 Interceptor Canal
  • Support the cost-effective plan of clearing out existing culverts to allow water flow underneath the Tamiami Trail with the installation of swales on the south side
  • Advocate for Respect of Miccosukee Sovereignty
  • Integrate a Spiritual approach in our work
  • Connect with as many people, communities and organizations as possible
  • Continue the excursions (Field trips to the Everglades)
  • Host educational workshops
  • Mobilize communities for peaceful, non-violent direct actions
